| About Planet 9 Design Studios Planet 9 Design Studios was originally founded by David & Kimberly Fedeli back in 1985, under the name "d/k Graphic Images". At that time, David was working as the Production Manager and Graphic Artist for a medium-sized commercial printing company in San Diego, and had already been a free-lance designer for about 10 years. Kim was working at a large printing company, also located in San Diego, and had been with that company in the position of Graphic Artist since 1978.

Both David and Kim each have over 25 years of experience creating designs specifically for the printing process. Both have experience in outputting files to numerous devices, including imagesetters and direct-to-plate systems. David's experience also includes over 15 years of operating a number of different makes and models of offset presses, so he has an intimate knowledge and understanding of the complete printing process.

Anyone who has experience commissioning graphic design for printing understands that there is much more to designing for print than creating an attractive piece. The design must be "printable", and the colors must be within the gamut required for the lithographic process. In addition, proper color trapping is essential for quality printing, and that is not something that is taught in most design schools - it is learned in the real world of printing. We have the necessary prepress experience to guarantee that our files will print properly. And, we can do the same with your files too.
